“My husband and I were sitting in our living room when we heard a noise from outside the house. It sounded like someone had driven by and a ladder had fallen from their vechile. My husband went to the door to find a car had rang into our vechile parked in the driveway and sent it airborne about 25ft. From the appearance of the Pontiac G6 that hit our car someone hard to be really hurt or worse. When my husband got tot he Pontiac OnStar was already on the phone talking to him and was calling emergency services before I could from the house. The lady driving was lucky and came thru the accident with only a broken knee, but it totaled our Trailblazer. I did not have on-star on my first Trailblazer, but I have it and will always have it on my vechiles. Thank you for being there.”

“I was in an accident and OnStar was on top of it right away. I hit the button, they knew all ready and she said you were in an accident and my location. It was a relief. She said they are on the way. Thanks OnStar. My car was totaled but thank GOD I made it out safely with only bumps, bruises, and bangs.”

OnStar’s real stories sometimes cause unexpected results. Blogger bethannelouise found that out while listening to one of our radio ads as she was driving to work.

She writes: “It goes like this: Car accident. People are hurt. OnStar contacts emergency services. OnStar stays on the phone with the customer while they wait for help to arrive, all the while being calm, cool, collected and offering OnStar love and support. Heard it before?? Great. Except not really. Today hearing the man say he couldn’t feel his legs made me start to cry …”

Confession time: Do OnStar commercials make you cry? Which commercial seems to get you every time?

Spot a story about OnStar on the Web? Submit a link and we might just feature it on this site.

After being diagnosed with a rare lung disease, Georgia resident Alice Koone found herself on a waiting list for a double lung transplant.

In the wee hours of the morning, Alice received the call she had been waiting for: a match had been found. She just had to make it to the hospital in an hour to receive the transplant. No small task as Alice lived about 80 miles away and had only a tank and a half of oxygen.

Alice and her husband were 30 miles into the drive when they were caught in a traffic jam. With precious minutes ticking by, that’s when Koone thought of OnStar. Hear Koone tell the rest of her story in this video.

“I saw your commercial about the car accident with the air bags deploying and the cell phone flying in the air. Your commercial is so realistic and hit home with my family. On 12/30/97 my son was 3 months old and we were hit by a drunk driver. After the impact, I was able to reach for my cell phone but I had hit my head so hard on the window that I passed out (I had to have 8 staples in my head but my son didn’t have a scratch on him). A man in a car behind me (thank God he was a good person) opened the car door somehow and used my cell phone to call my anunt and the police for help (I don’t remember giving the man my aunt’s phone number). I woke up in the ambulance and didn’t hear or see my son(to me nothing is worse than not knowing where my son was), because the paramedics couldn’t secure his car seat in the ambulance. My uncle was able to follow the ambulance and take my son to the hospital.

Our story ends well, my son is now 12 and I long ago recovered from my injuries but to this day, I carry with me the feeling of helplessness and I still wonder what would have happened to us if not for the man in the car behind us. Thank you so much for making such a wonderful commercial to show people that situations like this really can happen. I don’t have OnStar on my Honda but I am going to look into your product. Thank you.”

“I had to drive to Dallas from Oklahoma at night to get to my daughter in the hospital. Not knowing how to get to her, I pushed my OnStar button and requested directions. They sent it to my vehicle and I arrived safely. Now I know this probably seems like a small thing to some people, but I was in unfamiliar territory, in the dark and my stress level was off the charts. But having the turn-by-turn navigation was truly a godsend that night. I found my daughter fighting for her life, which god granted her and all turned out well. But my vehicle will always have OnStar. This incident convinced me, it’s a must.”
