“OnStar Saved My Friend’s Life”

Brent Cowan had been looking forward to his fishing trip for weeks. Brent, his good friend Bob Bergman and Bob’s 13-year-old son Bobby were heading out to southeastern Ohio for their annual camping trip. After setting up camp, they crawled into their sleeping bags looking forward to a full day of fishing. But early the next morning, things turned very scary.
Emergency help a button-push away.
Brent had just awakened when he heard Bob coughing violently. That’s when he noticed Bob was coughing up blood and having serious breathing problems. Brent grabbed his cell phone but the signal wasn’t strong enough. He knew they were at least 20 miles from the nearest town and didn’t have a clue where the nearest hospital or fire station was.
He knew he needed help — and fast. Brent pushed the red OnStar emergency button.
“The Advisor came on right away and calmed me down. I guess I was pretty frantic. She helped us connect with and talk to the emergency personnel. She was really great. On the way to the hospital — which was 60 miles away — Bob’s heart stopped twice and the medics told me that another minute or two could have cost him his life. Thanks to OnStar, those crucial minutes helped save Bob’s life.”
“You can’t afford not to have OnStar.”
In an emergency, every second counts. When you push the red Emergency Services button, you’re immediately connected with a specially trained Advisor who knows where you are and who can direct help to your exact GPS location.
You can also be a Good Samaritan and help others around you who might need roadside assistance or emergency help. Just push the red OnStar Emergency button.
Brent Cowan says it only takes one emergency to realize how you can’t afford not to have OnStar. “Thanks to OnStar, Bob is alive to take his son fishing again. How do you measure that? And since the incident, both Bob and his wife have bought OnStar-equipped vehicles. They know OnStar truly helps save lives.”
