"Glad I had kept my OnStar service in effect" – Laura Rece Singleton

“May 2009 a group I horseback ride with was camping at an Ohio State Park on a rainy weekend. Saturday evening one of the riders slipped down from a horse getting her boot stuck into the mud. As her foot stuck she lost her balance and fell to the ground breaking both bones in the shin of her leg. Cell phones didn’t work in that remote area…not even my OnStar phone would connect a call due to our location and the inclement weather. HOWEVER!!! the OnStar Emergency button did!!! I was able to contact emergency services and OnStar’s global positioning service was able to direct an ambulance to our location. I do not own a cell phone–don’t want to be THAT accessible or have another phone bill, but am very glad I had kept my OnStar service in effect on my 2005 GMC Sierra. It was a life saver that evening as my friend is an asthmatic and had begun to have breathing difficulties due to the stress of the pain from this injury. We would not have been able to transport her safely the distance necessary to get her to the hospital. Thanks for saving my friend OnStar.” – Laura Rece Singleton, Buffalo Girls Association of Northern Kentucky
