"I Am Confident That OnStar Will Be There For Me" – Donna Linville

“I have personally had the pleasure of using OnStar in my Chevy Impala. I know that some people feel it gives you a false sense of security but I absolutely love it! If I have an emergency, I know I can push the emergency button and someone will be able to help me. Whether I need something as simple as a tire change or need emergency personnel to be dispatched, I am confident that OnStar will be there for me.
Just recently I experienced the OnStar experience firsthand during what I felt was an emergency situation. One morning on my way to work I pulled onto the main road while there was an oncoming car approaching in my direction from a distance. As the car approached my vehicle, it failed to reduce its speed. This resulted in the oncoming car getting really close to the rear of my vehicle. The vehicle got so close to the back of my vehicle that I could not even see its headlights in my rearview mirror. I was experiencing an episode of road rage. The person driving this vehicle appeared to be upset that I pulled out in front of him.
After a couple miles of being tailgated while driving 55 miles per hour, I decided to use my OnStar emergency service because driving as closely as we were, and at that high rate of speed was definitely dangerous. I reached up and pushed the emergency OnStar button and I was immediately connected to a live Advisor. I explained my situation to the OnStar Advisor and she immediately contacted the Sheriff’s Department. I was then connected on a three-way call with the On-Star Advisor and the Sheriff’s dispatcher. The OnStar Advisor advised the dispatcher of my location and the type of vehicle I was driving. The Sheriff’s dispatcher asked me what type of vehicle was tailing me but because it was dark outside, I couldn’t tell. I could only assume it was a truck or sport utility vehicle based on the shape of the headlights. This road rage lasted for approximately 10 miles on a county road which had no stop signs or stop lights. The entire time the road rage was occurring, I was in constant contact with both the Sheriff’s department and the OnStar Advisor. The Sheriff’s department told me they had an officer in position and would soon be intercepting us. The Sheriff’s dispatcher gave me specific information as to where the interception would take place. I arrived at the location which just happen ed to be the first stop light since the episode began.
I stopped at the stop light, and the Sheriff’s car casually pulled up next to me, rolled down his window, and asked me if the vehicle behind me was the offending vehicle. I confirmed that it was. I asked the Sheriff if he needed me to pull over and he said that wouldn’t be necessary and that he’d take care of him. I was not required to pull over or do anything more. As I pulled away, I could see the Sheriff’s car turn on his emergency lights and pulled the vehicle over. At that point I felt relieved and went about my day as if nothing had happened. Using OnStar for this particular situation made me feel as if I was in partial control of the situation as opposed to having to deal with the road rage alone and totally not in control of the situation. I love my OnStar and can’t picture my drives without it!!”

ONSTAR may have saved your life. Good outcome to a bad situation.
