Automatic Crash Response: When I woke up, everything was upside down.

Sheri Walley was on the way to a friend’s house when she missed a hairpin turn. Her car hit a ditch, flipped over and ended up on its side about 25 feet into the woods. The next thing Sheri heard was the sound of the OnStar Advisor telling her help was on the way.

The seventh-grade reading teacher had taken the back roads near Pass Christian, Miss., to enjoy the changing fall leaves and hadn’t realized the road curved so sharply.

“It was late in the afternoon, a very serene time of day. All of a sudden I noticed the hairpin turn to the left, and I didn’t think I was going to make it. The next thing I remember is hearing the OnStar Advisor talking to me. I had no idea how badly I was injured or that I had totaled my car.”

OnStar Advisor stayed on the line

“The Advisor was so kind and caring. She knew exactly where my car was so she could tell the ambulance. And she stayed on the line with me until help arrived.

“My cell phone was nowhere to be seen, which didn’t matter because even if I could have gotten reception in the area, I don’t think I would have been clear-headed enough to be able to make a call. But the Advisor even called my brother for me to let him know I had been in a crash.

“It was a rural area, not at all well traveled. There’s no telling if anybody would have found me in time in the woods. I think the OnStar Advisor actually saved my life.”

Automatic Crash Response can help you even when you can’t ask

  • After a crash, OnStar can be automatically alerted by sensors built into your vehicle and an Advisor can immediately connect into your vehicle to see if you’re OK.
  • OnStar can identify your exact GPS location and call for emergency help even if you are unable to do so.
  • OnStar Advisors can share important crash details with emergency responders to make sure you get the right help, right away.

Have you ever been in a crash like Sheri Walley? Have you heard the voice of an OnStar Advisor triggered by Automatic Crash Response?
